Zane addresses the topic of the political phone ad that went out Sunday October 26th, 2008:

I want to officially address the topic of the phone call that went out today from my campaign to individuals in District One [Recording Posted]. I acknowledge that the idea behind the ad, and indeed the execution of the call, was not the safe route to take. And if my run for office was simply for personal gain, I would not have taken a risk. But the content and the facts within the message were there and need to be discussed. Hopefully this call opens up the forum for discussion on the issues and on the representation which is so essential to our system.

What we are discussing today is the lack of alignment in representation in this district. Things are stagnant in Washington and accountability for one's actions and to one's district is severely lacking. I take the credit or the blame for the statement that went out today. The unpaid staffer who recorded and submitted the message may have been a little overly enthusiastic in the delivery, but I believe it is good to get enthusiasm back into politics.

The message is there--and what it says is that Mike Thompson went against the people of this district when he voted to pass and have us pay for the 700 billion dollar bailout and went along with George Bush as he has done on various issues including in passing the so called "Patriot Act". This is simply appalling. And if a message needs to go out that is "appalling" in a sense in order to get the discussion going, than I believe it is a worthy cause.

Let’s think outside the box, let's not be scared, let's talk about the issues that really matter. I am here to listen. I am here to take responsibility and to be accountable to the District. It is time for change, and it is time to make change for the better. Thank you.

Yours truly,

Zane Starkewolf
Green Republican
Candidate for U.S. Congress, District1

Californian's upset over Thompson's Bailout Vote

I have been getting phone calls and emails from people who are outraged over Mike Thompson's YES vote on the $700 Billion Bailout of corporate America.

Here is what Rick from Davis, CA wrote to Mr. Thompson:

"Mr. Congressman Thompson, I beg you to justify your vote with Facts and Reasons, or to resign from your misrepresentation of Us of District 1 of California – You Owe It To Us To Give us a Real Justification, even if it is that you were simply bought out by the extra $150 Billion in pork. With 3 of the 4 Presidential/VP candidates also supporting such an awful sellout of America and all o us working class people who will be paying debts off of the irresponsible materialistic greed-driven people for the rest of our lives, it would have been reassuring of our faith in America to at least have a Congressman, a Representative of US is Washington, who stood up for us and our interests, and did not sell us out by turning coat by crumbling to the incentives of pork barrel distraction incentives. Couldn’t you see that one coming a mile away? You Let Me, a single constituent, down, as I imagine you did of a great many others."

A congressman is only as good as his word and his vote in the house. Mr. Thompson is NOT listening too or representing the people.

$150 Billion dollars of pork was added to the $700 billion for a total of $850 billion dollars of taxpayer money.

Here are a few of the hidden expenditures:

Tax Provisions for the REALLY important following things:

  • Motor sports racing tracks (page 293/4)
  • Wool Products and Wool research (page 295) (this could actually be useful if they are actually planning to anupcoming depression...)
  • Film and Television tax credits (page 298).
  • Tax credit for Wood Stove Heating.
  • VERY important to stimulating and rescuing failing wall streetbanks.• Wooden Arrows for Children's Toys. Yes, you read that right. (page 300-301).

$700 Billion Bailout - The wrong direction for America!

The House passed the devestating economic bailout today. My opponent Mike Thompson voted yes today on H.R. 1424, the “Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008". This bill will have devestating consequences for the U.S. economy. It is immoral—Dumping bad debt on the innocent taxpayers is an act of theft and is wrong. It is bad economic policy—By refusing to address the monetary system while continuing to place the burdens of the bailout on the dollar, we can be certain that in time, we will be faced with another, more severe crisis when the market figures out that there is no magic government bailout or regulation that can make a fraudulent monetary system work. This bll will end up costing trillions of dollars that our great grand children will have to pay off. We cannot be represented by congressmen that would sell out the American people for pork barrel spending.

Congressman Mike Thompson voted against the will of the people in this district. After recieving over 3000 phone calls and emails to vote NO on this bailout, he went and did the opposet and changed his vote.

Here are what the brave few consititutionalists are saying:

Democrat Congressman
Dennis Kucinich
Republican Congressman
Ron Paul

I am running as a Green Republican for U.S. Congress because I believe in a multi-party system. I will uphold the constitution and focus on long term economic planning. For the past 10 years California's 1st congressional district has been left with out a representative that will listen and stand up for the people. I am a candidate that can and will represent the people, and will address the important issues of this great region.

  • Yes to clean renewable energy
  • Yes to securing our borders
  • Yes to long term economic planning
  • Yes to renewed foreign relations
